I would personally love to see as much of this project open-sourced as possible, and while I understand the desire to preserve some features as proprietary elements, I think the format of the Inku, and even the hardware alone is so appealing that allowing for heavy customization or modding from the community would expand the horizons so much more than limited features and regulating every new request.
I'd love to see, at the bare minimum, the ability to manually push any image to the screen with a specified time and duration, and some basic triggers to send and receive data, such as "start of day", "end of day", and any other landmarks built into the daily routine of Inku's workflow. Furthermore, I'd love to see any customization features, such as custom avatars, be flexible enough to be customized in fine detail, or otherwise leave open the possibility of future modding to add said functionality if it becomes impractical during private development.
In short, what I'm saying is, I'd love to build upon what the Inku already does well, and add any features I want personally with the help of the community. I know this possibility was already acknowledged in the Kickstarter, and that's worth a lot, but I wanted to put forth this request officially so people can show their support.
